Ohio Campus Compact Recognizes WC Senior with Ping Service Award

Chelsea Simpson 'represents the next generation of civic leaders and problem solvers' Wilmington College senior Chelsea Simpson is a 2015 recipient of the Charles J. Ping Student Community Service Award for outstanding leadership and contributions to service both in the community and on the WC campus. Ohio Campus Compact recognized Simpson and other “exceptional” students from across the state for their “tireless dedication to community service.” (LEFT) Sigrid Solomon, vice president for student affairs, congratulates Chelsea Simpson upon presenting her with the Ping Award at WC's 34th annual Student Honors Convocation. Simpson is a senior majoring in education. The Stow resident is a 2011 graduate of Stow-Munroe High School and will graduate from WC May 9. In presenting the award at the College’s 34th annual Student Honors Convocation April 19, Sigrid Solomon, vice president for student affairs, cited Simpson for her “commitment to service and civic engagement.” She was recognized as an active member of the Service Leader Executive Board and a leader of such service activities as the annual Angel Tree program, Adopt-a-School, Martin Luther King Day of Service and for her work at Sugartree Ministries and its food pantry, Your Father’s Kitchen, which feeds 1,000 persons a week. “Chelsea represents the next generation of civic leaders and problem solvers,” Solomon added.
