Wilmington College dropped a 124-79 decision to Division II Findlay in non-conference action at the WC Natatorium Saturday afternoon.
The meet marked the final home appearances for seniors Hannah Anderson (West Chester/Lakota West), Rachel Weitzel (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and Josh Shell (Lancaster).
“Coaching is a people business, something that we do because we enjoy watching the athletes and people develop,” Wilmington head coach Trip Breen said. “We are going to graduate three special people who mean a lot to me, our team and Wilmington College.”
Addie Roberts (Franklin) and Liz Roberts (Lebanon) finished 2-3 in the 800-meter freestyle, continuing a trend of solid performances.
“Our distance swimmers continue to swim well,” Breen said. “Addie and Liz were solid today.”
Caroline Kruczynski (Grove City/Central Crossing) touched third in the 200 backstroke.
“Caroline had a really nice 200 backstroke. We are kind of throwing around the idea of whether she will go 100 freestyle or 200 backstroke on the third day of the conference meet. We made that decision about 150 meters into her 200 today,” Breen said.
Julie Creech (Dayton/Centerville) tuned up for the OAC Championships with a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly.
“Julie had another nice 200 fly,” Breen said. “That’s a race that you really have to learn how to swim. I think she had a much better race this week than she had last week. It was a set-up race for her to swim really well at the conference meet.”
