Geers, Creech lead Quakers

Jenny Geers was a double winner as the Quakers topped Franklin in non-conference action.
Wilmington College breezed to an 85-35 win over Franklin College in a non-conference women’s swimming dual meet at the WC Natatorium Saturday afternoon.
“Overall, we swam much better today than we did Friday against Alma,” Wilmington head coach Trip Breen said. “Maybe it was a combination of being 48 hours away from a 20-hour bus ride and just shaking some rust off yesterday. We competed well today.”
Freshman Jenny Geers (Pickerington/Pickerington North) had a big meet for the Quakers, winning the 200-meter individual medley and teaming with Victoria Burcham (Urbana), Katie Mozingo (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and Melissa Amerman (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) to win the 200 IM relay.
“Jenny had a really nice 200 IM. She hasn’t swum that event much this year, but she really had a solid race,” Breen said.
Julie Creech (Dayton/Centerville) continued her solid sophomore season with an impressive win in the 400 freestyle.
“Julie works hard and competes hard,” Breen said. “She had some really good swims on Friday and followed them up with a great effort today.”
The Quakers will return to action on Jan. 22 when Mount Union visits the Wilmington College campus for an Ohio Athletic Conference dual.
