BEREA — Wilmington College lost a 9-0 decision to Baldwin-Wallace in Ohio Athletic Conference women’s tennis action on the Yellow Jackets’ courts Friday afternoon.
The Quakers drop to 2-4 in OAC play, 3-7 overall. Baldwin-Wallace improves to 5-1 in the conference, 13-7 for the season.
“We played well against a very good Baldwin-Wallace team,” Wilmington interim head coach Jessie Carmack said. “Everybody showed a lot of improvement today. It was good to play this team going into a big match with Heidelberg on Monday.”
The Jackets opened play by blitzing the Quakers in doubles action. Erin Cane (Springboro) and Michelle Reiber (Jamestown/Greeneview) dropped a 2-8 decision to Jenny Greene and Emily Pelosi at the No. 2 position.
Baldwin-Wallace kept the beat going by sweeping singles play.
Jessica VanWinkle (Vickery/Floyd Central, Ind.) lost to Caitlyn Pecinovsky at No. 1. At the No. 2 position, Cane lost to Miller. Reiber dropped her No. 3 match to Greene. At No. 4, Jordan VanWinkle lost to Pelosi. Lisa Brady (Pickerington/Pickerington North) dropped her No. 5 match to Katy Marshall. Holly Grady (Beavercreek/Xenia Christian) lost to Danielle Ruger at No. 6.
The Quakers and Heidelberg will play at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the WC Tennis Courts.
