BEXLEY – The Wilmington College women’s indoor track team won three events with four second-place finishes, and finished fourth of five teams at the Ohio Athletic Conference South meet at the Capital Center on the campus of Capital University.
Otterbein won the event with 165.5 points, followed by Marietta (125.5), Capital (112), Wilmington (109) and Muskingum (56).
“We just don’t have the numbers to be competitive as a team,” said head coach Ron Combs of his 12-member team. “But we have some solid individuals. We have some girls that can put some points up for us.”
Freshmen Kelsie Redway (Toledo, OH/Whitmer) and Jadie Riewoldt (Morrow, OH/Little Miami) tied for the victory in the high jump with identical jumps of 1.52 meters. It was the second straight victory in the high jump for Riewoldt.
“Jadie has proven that she is going to be one of the better jumpers at the OAC’s,” said Combs.
Sophomore Jenna Parlette (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) ran away from her competition in the 5000-meter run, winning by 1 minute and 47 seconds. Freshman Mary Krebs (Dayton, OH/Kettering Alter) was second in 21:40.0. Senior Brittany Gibbons (Pleasant Plain, OH/Blanchester) continued Wilmington’s solid efforts in the distance races, finishing second in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:26.95.
Freshman Marissa Bolen (Gibsonburg, OH/Gibsonburg) won the shot put for the second consecutive week with a toss of 11.53 meters, while senior Liz Delehanty (Euclid, OH/Villa Angela-St. Joseph’s) was second in the pole vault with the distance of 3.20 meters.
Wilmington returns to the track in the All-Ohio meet on February 9 at Otterbein University.
