USTFCCCA honors Parlette, team

NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their academic awards for the 2012 season, and the Wilmington College women’ cross country team was well represented.
“One of the goals the team sets each year is to make All-Academic as a team," said head coach Ron Combs. "We have an outstanding group of student athletes on the women’s team and I am really proud of the work that they put in this past season on the course and in the classroom.”
Sophomore Jenna Parlette (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) was one of 201 runners to earn All-Academic status through the organization. To qualify, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and placed in the Top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships.
She carries a 3.5 GPA in Health/Physical Education. Parlette earned first-team All-OAC honors after finished ninth in the league meet and placed 32nd in the Great Lakes Region championships to earned all-region honors.
With a cumulative GPA of 3.45, the entire team was one of 197 teams to earn the team All-Academic honor. Wilmington is one of six Ohio Athletic Conference schools to pick up the academic laurel.
