DELAWARE, OH - Junior Mikey Spraul set two new school records this weekend as the Wilmington College swim teams competed in the Corbiere/Merion Invitational on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.

Spraul (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) finished second, the top Division III swimmer, in the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.08. With the top of 1:57.92, Spraul was the top Division III swimmer in the 200 backstroke. He was second overall in the race.

The transfer was also the top D3 swimmer, fourth overall, in the 100 butterfly - covering the yardage in 53.44.
The Wilmington men's team finished fifth of six teams, while the women's team was fourth of six teams.

"We swam well," said WC head coach Trip Breen. "This time of year, your hard work starts to pay off. With the day in, day out grind, all the effort you like to see your athletes reap the rewards. We have a couple days off for Thanksgiving and then we will get back to it."

While it didn't necessarily show up in the team scores, several swimmers tallied career best times.

Junior Corbin Hellwarth (Celina, OH/Parkway) set two career-best times in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. He was second in the 100 with a time of 1:03.85 and was fourth in the 200 in a time of 2:22.67 . Sophomore Mason Harris (Westerville, OH/Westerville Central), in the 100 butterfly, turned in a career best 56.90, placing 12th overall.

On the women's side, senior Julie Creech (Dayton, OH/Centerville) continues to swim well. She was fifth in the 500 free in a time of 5:38.38 and third in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.49. Seniors Shelby Zornes (Milan, IN/Milan) and Katie Mozinga (Stow, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) also turned in solid performances for the Lady Quakers.
