Anna Foote and the Quakers finished second at the Cedarville University Friendship Invitational.
CEDARVILLE — Jenna Parlette and Annie Cekada finished second and third overall as Wilmington College ran to a second-place team finish at the Cedarville University Friendship Invitational Saturday morning.
Wilmington finished with 77 points. Cedarville won the event with 57 points.
“This was a great day for our women. Indiana Wesleyan is the 10th-ranked NAIA team in the nation and we beat them. Cedarville is transitioning to NCAA Division II, so this is a great race for our team to do this well against Division I and scholarship schools,” Wilmington head coach Ron Combs said.
Parlette (Miamisburg) covered the 5K course in 18:53.36 while Cekada (Mineral Point, Pa./Central Cambria) finished in 18:58.85.
“Jenna is amazing. Just like Annie, she doesn’t fear anybody in a race. That is a quality that makes them both special,” Combs said. “They like to put themselves out there and see what they can do.”
Brittany Gibbons (Pleasant Plain/Blanchester) had another solid run, finishing 15th overall in 19:37.63.
Colleen Romeo (Pleasant Plain/Goshen) was 24th in 19:57.65.
Karlee Michel (Alexandria/Johnstown-Monroe) finished 34th in 20:17.40.
Anna Foote (Pleasant Plain/Goshen) was 40th overall with a time of 20:27.99.
“This means a lot to our team,” Combs said. “Both our men and women dropped a lot of time from two weeks ago. They looked so much more relaxed. It’s exciting because I know we’re doing things right with our training, and I know in two months that we’re going to be a tough team on both sides of the coin.”
