Quakers net win over Sinclair

Lisa Brady won on the singles and doubles courts as Wilmington blanked Sinclair.
Wilmington College rolled to a 9-0 win over Sinclair Community College in a non-conference match on the Lady Quakers’ courts Tuesday afternoon.
The win moves Wilmington to 1-2 for the fall season while Sinclair drops to 1-8.
“Everyone played well. They worked on the things that we have been focusing on in practice,” Wilmington head coach Jessie Loeffelholz said.
Wilmington set the tone early by sweeping doubles play. The No. 1 combination of Jessica VanWinkle (Vickery/Floyd Central, Ind.) and Lisa Brady (Pickerington/Pickerington North) posted an 8-2 win over Karen Haviland and Maggie Thomas. The No. 2 team of Jessica Veite (Loveland) and Michelle Reiber (Jamestown/Greeneview) defeated Jodi Roth and Jennifer Kolb, 8-1.
Jessica VanWinkle opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Roth at the No. 1 position. At No. 2 singles, Veite edged Haviland, 6-4, 6-4. Reiber bageled Kolb at No. 3 singles. At the No. 4 spot, Brady battled past Sizemore in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3). At No. 5 singles, Holly Grady (Beavercreek/Xenia Christian) held off Maggie Thomas, 6-4, 7-5.
“There were some very competitive singles matches,” Loeffelholz said. “Jessica Veite and Holly Grady both played long matches that lasted into darkness. It was very challenging. They did a nice job in tough conditions.”
