Quakers lose at Otterbein

WC opens OAC season with road setback

WESTERVILLE — Wilmington College opened the spring and Ohio Athletic Conference seasons with a 9-0 loss at Otterbein Saturday afternoon.

The Quakers are 0-1 in the OAC, 0-4 overall. Otterbein improves to 1-0 in the conference, 2-4 overall.

The Cardinals opened play by sweeping three straight doubles matches and carried the momentum into singles action.

Connor LaVelle (Athens) picked up one of Wilmington’s three game victories in a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Ryan Roberts at No. 1 singles.

Killian Cummings (Cincinnati/Colerain) dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Ryan Shutt at No. 3 singles.

Charles Hirtzinger (Troy) was defeated by Sam Lawless, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 singles.

The Quakers will return to action with a March 11 OAC match at John Carroll.
