MARIETTA — Wilmington dropped both ends of a tri-match played at Marietta College Saturday.
The Quakers lost to Marietta, 3-0, in the opener and fell to Franciscan, 3-0.
Wilmington is now 1-5 in the OAC, 10-14 overall.
“We just couldn’t get our offense going,” Wilmington head coach Ron Mullikin said. “We were getting our hits; we just couldn’t get them down.”
In the opener with Marietta, the Pioneers (4-1 OAC, 12-10 overall) jumped out quickly, taking the opening set, 25-13.
Things got no better in set two as Marietta posted a 25-12 win.
The Quakers got their attack untracked in set three, but fell, 25-20.
Chelcey Lyons (Springfield/Shawnee) finished with six kills and 13 digs.
Sara Fisher (London/Madison-Plains) put down four kills while Ashley Miller (Arcanum/Franklin Monroe), Caitlin Baker (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and Anne Keenan (Beavercreek) contributed three kills apiece.
Amy McClelland (Xenia) put up 21 assists.
Against Franciscan (9-10), Wilmington lost the opening set, 25-21. Set two went to the Barons, 25-19, and set three ended, 25-20.
Miller led Wilmington’s attack with seven kills.
McClelland added 23 assists.
Tabitha Biegler (Columbus/Briggs) led Wilmington’s defensive effort with 16 digs. Tessa Bailey (Urbana/West Liberty-Salem) and Courtney Hurley (DeGraff/Riverside) added 10 digs apiece.
