AUSTINTOWN — Wilmington College sophomore Brianna Peters has been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Team, the league office announced today.

Peters was an honorable mention selection.

To qualify, a student-athlete must have maintained a 3.25 grade point average, be a sophomore academically and is in at least her second year of participation. She must also have been a starter or key reserve who has made a significant athletic impact. The conference’s faculty athletic representatives vote upon the recipients.

Peters (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) carries a 3.92 GPA as an animal science/pre-vet major. She is a member of the WC Dean’s List and the WC Aggies.

On the court, Peters was an Academic All-OAC Honorable Mention pick. She averaged 9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in a season that ended with her among the conference’s leaders in several statistical categories. She ranked No. 8 with 48-percent shooting from the field, ninth with 22 blocked shots and 11th in rebounding.

“Brianna gives her best, both on the court and in the classroom, and is certainly deserving of this honor,” Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve said. “Our players are all students first, and it is rewarding to see them excel academically.”
