TERRE HAUTE, IN – Sophomore Jenna Parlette (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) placed 22nd in a time of 22:58 to be the top Ohio Athletic Conference runner at the Rose-Hulman Pre-National Meet as Wilmington finished 23rd of 30 teams Saturday.

“Jenna ran a fantastic race,” said head coach Ron Combs. “This was a good experience for her (running on the same course as the National race). “

Wilmington welcomed one of their top runners back to their lineup, but held two out as they finished 23rd of 30 teams in the Rose-Hulman Pre-National Meet.

Senior Annie Cekada (Mineral Point, Pa./Central Cambria), a two-time national qualifier, ran for the first time this season. She was the fourth Wilmington runner across the line, placing 157th in 26:13. While Cekada made her 2012 debut, sophomore Tricia Steffen (Baltimore, OH/Liberty Union) and freshman Mary Ann Krebs (Kettering, OH/Alter) were missing with injuries.

Senior Brittany Gibbons (Pleasant Plain, OH/Blanchester) was the second WC runner in 120th with a time of 25:08 and senior Karlee Michel (Alexandria, OH/Johnstown Monroe) was 128th in 25:19. The final Wilmington placer was sophomore Veronica Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) with the time of 26:55 for a 167th place finish.

As the Lady Quakers have had to deal with nagging injuries throughout its lineup, the team has refocused their seasonal plans.

“We had to redo our goals,” said Combs. “We had high expectations. We don’t this season to be a wash. We have to get everyone healthy.”

Wilmington will host the WC Fall Classic Friday.
