March 26, 2013

AUSTINTOWN – For the third consecutive week, a Wilmington College student-athlete has been honored by the Ohio Athletic Conference. This week, senior track athlete Mason Metts earned OAC Field Athlete of the Week.

It’s the second time this season, first during the outdoor session, Metts (Pomeroy, OH/Meigs) has earned the weekly field honors from the conference. During the Rhodes College Invitational, he won the hammer throw with a launch of 172-04, and then was victorious in the shot put with a toss of 52-06.5. Metts added a fourth place finish in the discus with a distance of 137.00.

"Mason had a great meet this weekend," said head coach Ron Combs. "He is very focused this season, and carried the momentum he had during the indoor season right over to the first outdoor meet."

Wilmington returns to action Saturday in the Ohio Athletic Conference split meet at Muskingum University.
