NEW CONCORD — Wilmington College found life on the highway to be a perilous process as the Lady Quakers dropped a 76-51 decision to Muskingum in Ohio Athletic Conference action Wednesday night.
The Lady Quakers fall to 6-9 in the OAC, 11-11 overall. Muskingum improves to 4-11 in the conference, 9-13 for the season.
Wilmington had trouble finding Muskingum’s shooters, who did not have trouble finding the bottom of the net. The Muskies hit 7 of 15 shots from 3-point country in the opening half en route to building a 39-17 lead at the break.
Muskingum, which lost to Wilmington, 71-61, on Jan. 4, did not miss a beat down the stretch as the lead grew to as many as 31 points.
Bria Eslick (Cleveland Heights/Lutheran East) and Brianna Peters (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) led the Lady Quakers with eight points each. Chelsea Meckstroth (North Bend/Mercy) added seven points.
Wilmington owned the advantage inside, out-scoring Muskingum, 34-12, in the paint. The Muskies, though, didn’t need points in the paint, thanks to 14-of-30 shooting from beyond the arc.
Wilmington begins a three-game homestand Saturday when John Carroll visits Fred Raizk Arena for a 3 p.m. game.
