Hunter Justus has been named to the 2012 All-OAC Baseball Teams.
AUSTINTOWN — Wilmington College junior pitcher/first baseman Hunter Justus has been named to the 2012 All-Ohio Athletic Conference Baseball Teams, the league office announced today.
Justus was an honorable mention pick.
Justus (Circleville/Logan Elm) batted .293 with 14 RBI. On the mound, he led the Quakers’ staff with two conference wins and a 4.22 ERA.
“Hunter had an outstanding season,” Wilmington head coach Tony Haley said. “I think I was most proud of the way he pitched. We went into the season thinking we would be using him as our closer, but we moved him into the starting rotation and he did a great job.”
Justus also led Wilmington’s staff with 19 strikeouts in conference play. His key to success, Haley said, was getting ahead of hitters.
“He threw strikes early and often,” Haley said. “We preach to our guys to throw strikes, and he did that. He also hit his spots. He didn’t miss a lot of spots.”
