AUSTINTOWN — Wilmington College sophomore Julie Creech has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced today.

The conference honor is the second in Creech's career.

Creech (Dayton/Centerville) had three race wins as the Quakers split home meets with Alma and Franklin.

The defending OAC 100- and 200-yard butterfly champion, Creech touched first in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly against Alma, and won the 400 freestyle against Franklin.

“Julie really responded to the training we did down in Florida,” Wilmington head coach Trip Breen said. “You take talent and add talent that wants to work hard, and you’re going to have success. Julie proves that every week. Every year is different, but time-wise, she’s well ahead of where she was at this time last season. Her idea of how to race has improved a lot, she has learned a lot. She’s really setting herself up well for a great championship meet.”
