Collegium Musicum Instrumental Group to Present Noon Concert
Canned Goods and Nonperishables to Benefit Homeless Shelter
November 26, 2012
Several Collegium Musicum members from last spring display the group's attire and period instruments. They are, from the left, Angel Zugg with a tenor viola da gamba; Ellen Briggs, a 2012 graduate with a hammer dulcimer; Will Caudill, lap harp; and Kaitlin McMullen, alto recorder.
Wilmington College’s early music and Renaissance-era instrumental ensemble will present its annual noon hour, holiday mini-concert Thursday (Nov. 29), at 12:15 p.m., in Harcum Art Gallery.
Collegium Musicum will present a program titled “Peace and Joy” featuring instrumental arrangements of 16th century Italian and German dances, early American-shaped note hymns and traditional English and Czech carols.
Elizabeth Haskins, assistant professor of music, directs the group, which performs dressed in period attire and uses instruments popular in Europe some 500 years ago.
While the concert is free of charge, audience members are encouraged to bring donations of canned goods, cleaning supplies, paper products and baby care items for the Clinton County Homeless Shelter.
A light lunch will be available.
