College Faculty and Staff Recognized for Milestones Totaling 655 Years of Service

Registrar Karen Garman Lauded for 40 years

Wilmington College recognized 40 members of its faculty, administration and support staff for service milestones at a campus gathering Thursday (Sept. 6).

The honorees represent a cumulative 655 years of service to the institution. President Jim Reynolds expressed his gratitude on behalf of the College to those individuals that have served WC for five-year increments up to 40 years.

“You’ve devoted a significant portion of your lives to Wilmington College,” Reynolds said. “It’s important for me to tell you that what you do here for our students in helping transform their lives truly means a lot.

“I really appreciate all that you do.”

Bill Kincaid, professor of mathematics, has the longest current tenure of service at 43 years, but having the greatest longevity of service among this year’s honorees is Karen Garman, registrar and assistant dean, Academic Affairs. She was lauded for her 40 years of service.

Five faculty and staff were recognized for 35-year service milestones.

They include: Terry Johnson, director of the physical plant; Lois Hock, professor of theatre; Don Troike, professor of biology; Harold Thirey, assistant professor of agriculture; and Jerry Scheve, associate professor of accounting and women’s basketball coach.

Others are:

30-year — Paul Moke, professor of criminal justice and political studies.

25-year — Donna Barton, assistant director of financial aid; Caralee Capone, professor of mathematics; Beverly Carpenter, secretary, Advancement; Brenda Davis, budget director; and Steve Szeghi, professor of economics.

20-year — Michael Boyle, associate director of Information Technology and network administrator; Mark Denniston, vice president for enrollment management; and Kathern Hatfield, manager, technical services, Watson Library.

15-year — Steve Allen, associate professor of accounting; Michele Beery, professor of education; Jim FitzSimmons, associate professor of mathematics; Donna Myers, assistant professor of education; Cathy Pitzer, assistant professor of social and political studies; and Tammy Shadley, academic data management specialist, Academic Affairs.

10-year — Angie Davidson, director of advancement services; Scott Farkas, director of human resources; Martha Hendricks, interim associate vice president, Academic Affairs; Gary Louis, associate professor of education; Kathy Milam, director of alumni and parent relations; Angela Mitchell, associate professor of business administration; Steve Stovall, associate professor of business administration and Stolle Chair; Jeff Stahley, associate professor of Spanish; Laura Struve, associate professor of English.

5-year — Ruth Clark, records specialist; Elizabeth Floyd, senior women athletics administrator and softball coach; Jennifer Kelsen, coordinator of academic advising and financial aid, Cincinnati Branch; Lisa Kiley, equine assistant; Ryan O’Malley, assistant groundskeeper; Bill Newland, instructor of sport management; Helen Reynolds, Firbank Fell housekeeper; Jim Reynolds, president; Brian Snowden, assistant professor of business administration, Cincinnati Branch; Sigrid Solomon, vice president for student affairs; and Joni Streber, manager of public services, Watson Library.
