College-Community Chorus Gearing Up for New Semester of Music

Group Preparing for Annual Spring Concert in May

Singers of high school age and older are eligible to join the College-Community Chorus as it begins its winter rehearsals leading up to the group’s performance at Wilmington College’s Spring Concert.

Rehearsals are Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., beginning Jan. 28, in Room 208 on the second floor of WC’s Boyd Cultural Arts Center.

Chorus director Elizabeth Haskins, assistant professor of music, said the themes for their repertoire feature faith, love and relationships.

Selections include “This Marriage” and “maggie and milly and molly and may” by Eric Whitacre, in addition to “Prayer” by Carol Bayer Sager and David Foster, and “The Lord is My Shepherd (Psalm 23)” by Howard Goodall.

This last piece is the theme music for the popular BBC television series The Vicar of Dibley.

There will also be opportunities those interested in solos and small vocal ensembles. Music folders are provided to chorus members. The Spring Concert will be May 5.
