16 Quakers on OAC winter honor roll

AUSTINTOWN – The Wilmington College winter sports student-athletes comprised more than 20 percent for the 76 student-athletes recognized by the Ohio Athletic Conference on the Academic All-OAC team.

Women’s swimming led the way with eight student-athletes, followed by women’s basketball with five. Men’s basketball added two and men’s swimming recorded one. The award winners are varsity athletes that are at least sophomore or higher in class standing and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.50.

Six of the eight women’s swimmers earned at least a 3.9 GPA with senior Julie Creech (Dayton, OH/Centerville) and Rebecca Scherer (Circleville, OH/Circleville) earned perfect 4.0’s. Junior Jenny Geers (3.98, Pickerington, OH/North), sophomore Emily Marcum (3.95, Circleville, OH/Circleville), junior Leslie Stiffler (Prospect, OH/Elgin) and Victoria Burcham (3.90, Urbana, OH/Urbana) are joined by junior Lisa Fetters (Hamilton, OH/Badin) and sophomore Addie Roberts (Franklin, OH/Franklin).

Seniors Brianna Peters (Alexandria, KY/Campbell County) and Emily Zimmerman (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) lead the way for women’s basketball. Juniors Bethany Ahrens (Versailles, OH/Versailles) and Haley Howard (Uhrichsville, OH/New Philadelphia) along with sophomore Spencer Robles (Clyde, OH/Clyde) round out the women’s basketball contingent.

Academic All-District winner senior Brandon Candella (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) and senior Tim Pfeiffer (Clinton, OH/Akron Manchester) represent men’s basketball, while junior Corbin Hellwarth (Celina, OH/Parkway) is the lone men’s swimming recipient.
