Quakers drop second straight

David Guy scores 19 points in loss

(WC Press Release) Naperville, IL (November 22, 2003) -- The Wilmington College Quakers dropped their second straight game to start the 2003-04 season with a 67-57 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday evening. David Guy (Webb City, MO/Webb City) led the way for the Quakers with 19 points while Josh Rohrbacher (Columbus/Beechcroft) added 11 points in the defeat.

Wilmington and Palm Beach Atlantic played even basketball for the majority of the first half until PBA went on a 15-2 run to take a 14-point lead, which would stand until the halftime break.

In the second half PBA's lead would grow to as many as 21 with 12 minutes to play, as the Quakers were not able to get the deficit to within single digits the rest of the way in the 10-point loss.

Guy and Rohrbacher led the Quakers in scoring while Jesse McCue and Brad Hoffar of Palm Beach Atlantic scored 20 points each. Stephen Gee (West Milton/Milton-Union) pulled down a team-high six rebounds for the Quakers while Mike Umpleby (Columbus/Centennial) dished out four assists to pace the squad.

With the loss the Quakers fall to 0-2 on the season.

The next game for the Green and White is on Saturday, November 29 when the team plays host to Thomas More College with tip-off set for 3:00 p.m.
