drop second straight with 28-point loss

WESTERVILLE,
Ohio The Wilmington Quakers dropped to 9-15 overall
on the season
with a 70-51 loss to the Cardinals of Otterbein College on
Wednesday evening.
The
team, however, clinches the eighth spot in the OAC Tournament
as Heidelberg, who is a game behind the Quakers, fell to John
Carroll this evening.
Josh
Rohrbacher (Columbus/Beechcroft) and Fred Harrison (Cleveland/East)
each scored 10 points to lead the way in the loss.
The Quakers never led in the game, as the Cardinals jumped
out to a 12-3 lead in the first three and a half minutes.
The Quakers closed to within two with a 9-2 run, but that
would be as close as they would come, as the hosts opened
an 8-0 run to take a 10 point lead that the Quakers cut to
nine at 36-27 by halftime.
The
Quakers trailed by nine with 18:03 to play in the game before
the hosts opened a 9-0 run, taking the lead to double digits,
keeping their foot on the gas pedal until the final minutes,
as the Cardinals took their biggest lead at 79-51 with 49
seconds to play.
Rohrbacher
and Harrison each scored 10 while Deon Short (Cincinnati/Mt.
Healthy) scored nine in the losing effort. Rohrbacher pulled
down a team-high five rebounds, while Zach Broermann (Brookville,
IN/Franklin County) dished out three assists to pace the squad.
Four
of the five starters for Otterbein reached double figures,
as Scott Hadley scored a game-high 12 points while Tony Borghese
scored 11 and Mark Church and Kevin King each added 10. Borghese
dished out a game-high nine assists while Hadley pulled down
seven rebounds to lead the team.
The
Quakers fall to 5-12 in the OAC while Otterbein improves to
17-7 overall and 12-5 in league play.
The
next game for the Quakers is on Saturday, February 19 as the
team plays host to the Pioneers of Marietta College with tip-off
set for 3:00 p.m. The game is community day, with all fans
invited to the game free of charge.
