Press Release) Wilmington, OH (January 24, 2004) -- The Wilmington
College Quakers held a one-point, 33-32 halftime lead, but were
unable to keep pace in the second half as the Yellow Jackets of
Baldwin-Wallace College out-ran the Green and White to a 44-27 second
Short (Cincinnati/Mt. Healthy) and David Guy (Webb City, MO/Webb
City) led the way with 16 points each for the Green and White.
The game started out slowly for the Quakers, as the Yellow Jackets
ran out to a nine-point, 14-5 lead, five minutes into the game.
The Quakers then opened a 17-7 run taking a one-point lead. B-W
took the lead back until Guy hit a three-point basket with six seconds
in the half, giving the Quakers a one-point halftime lead.
In the second half, the Quaker lead grew to as many as three with
13:47 to play in the game. B-W fought back and opened a 12-2 run
taking a seven-point lead three minutes later. Four points would
be as close as the team would come the rest of the way, as the Yellow
Jackets scored a dozen straight to end the game.
team was led by Guy and Short who put in 16 points each, while Stephen
Gee (West Milton/Milton-Union) scored 10. Mike Umpleby (Columbus/Centennial)
chipped in with eight points off of the bench. Short, Guy and Josh
Rohrbacher (Columbus/Beechcroft) each pulled down five rebounds,
while Rohrbacher led the squad with four assists.
was led by Keith Aufmuth, who put in 22 points on 5-of-8 shooting
from three-point range, while Thad Davis scored 16, Tori Davis scored
14 and Nick Meyer added 13.
the loss, the Quakers fall to 1-16 overall and 1-9 in the OAC while
B-W improves to 12-5 overall and 7-3 in league action.

the team plays host to the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University
