EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION MAJOR: A total of 70 hours is required.

MIDDLE CHILDHOOD EDUCATION MAJOR: A total of 46 hours is required. ADOLESCENCE TO YOUNG ADULT OR MULTI-AGE EDUCATION MAJOR: A total of 34 to 38 hours (depending on the area of licensure) is required. Required courses: EDU102 Educational Foundations (4) EDU205 Instructional Technology (1) EDU210 Human Growth and Development (3) EDU241 Educational Psychology (3) EDU303 Secondary General Methods and Content Area Reading (4) EDU309 Survey of Inclusion Philosophy and Strategies (3) EDU405 Professional Issues and Urban Experience (2) EDU450 Student Teaching and Seminar (10) Required: 4 hours (Integrated Language Arts 8 hours and Mathematics 7 hours) from the following. EDU311 Teaching Integrated Language Arts for Adolescents (4) AND EDU349 Teaching Reading for Adolescents (4) EDU213 Diagnosis, Remediation and Assessment in Mathematics (3) AND EDU313 Teaching Mathematics for Adolescents (4) EDU315 Teaching Science for Adolescents (4) EDU319 Teaching Social Studies for Adolescents (4) EDU322 Methods and Material in Health Education (4) EDU329 Teaching Physical Education (4) No additional hours in the Education Area required for Agriculture Vocational License.
RECOMMENDATION FOR LICENSURE In addition to these professional education courses, candidates for licensure must complete the general education requirements/coursework as specified by the State Department of Education. Middle Childhood Licensure candidates must complete the requirements for two concentration areas. Adolescent licensure candidates must complete the equivalent of another academic major. Details of all these requirements are available from the Education area. The student must continue to maintain a 2.50 grade point average in both the teaching field and overall in order to be recommended for licensure.
