Quaker Emeriti

In the late 1990s, the College’s Advancement Office wanted to give special recognition to alumni whose classes celebrated their 50th anniversary. It was suggested they be called “Quaker Emeriti” in recognition of their long-time affiliation with WC.

The initial Quaker Emeriti luncheon honored that year’s 50-year class and those from previous years. Each Quaker Emeritus member was awarded with a medallion on a green and white ribbon, which was presented by an emeritus faculty member. Since then, the bulk of Quaker Emeriti medallions have been presented each year during Grand Banquet at Alumni Weekend.

Soon after the first awards ceremony, we began noticing many alumni wearing their QE medallions whenever they returned to campus. Persons with green and white ribbons began appearing at Homecoming, Alumni Weekend, and even sporting events and during other campus visits. We’re pleased our Quaker Emeriti are so proud of their alma mater. We are proud of them and their accomplishments. They represent the foundation of the College’s alumni base.

The College is pleased to recognize them with the distinction of being known as Quaker Emeriti.
