Freshman Adam Salyers has been named Wilmington College’s SAAC Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 2. Salyers (Mechanicsburg) opened his collegiate wrestling career with a pin win over Ohio Northern’s Adam Kosch in the 285-pound weight class during an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet Nov. 27.

Respect the river. One of the things I learned while whitewater rafting the world-class Gauley River in central West Virginia. Dropping 668 feet in 26 miles, this river is no laid back trip. There were over 100 rapids, most of which rate Class III through V+. For an inexperienced rafter, this river is your death wish.

Wilmington College Director of Athletics Terry Rupert has been elected chairman of the NCAA Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee. Rupert’s term as chairman will commence in January 2008 and continue through January 2010.

Katie Streck has earned her athletic reputation on the basketball court. The Wilmington College senior is a member of the Lady Quakers’ 1,000-point and All-American clubs, but don’t look for Streck in the gym this summer. You’ll have a much better chance of finding her on the golf course.
