WC women in fifth place after first day at OAC Championships

Ashley C. Johnson's second-place finish in the pole vault paced the Wilmington College women's indoor track and field team's opening-day performance at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships Friday. Wilmington is in fifth place heading into Saturday's final day of competition.

Betse Johnson's win in the 55 meter dash highlighted a solid showing by the Wilmington College women's indoor track and field team at the five-team Purple and White Invitational Friday at Capital University. The Lady Quakers finished third with 78 points. Otterbein won the event with 201.66 points.

Ashley C. Johnson (Wilmington) broke her own Wilmington College pole vault record at the Ohio Athletic Conference Relays Saturday at Marietta College. In the team race, WC placed seventh with 55 points. Baldwin-Wallace won the event with 113 points.
