Ms. Brett Yenger
- Head Coach, Women's Lacrosse
Brett Yenger was named head women’s lacrosse coach at Wilmington College in February 2012.
Yenger is the first-ever women’s lacrosse coach at Wilmington, which will begin its inaugural season in the spring of 2013.
“We are very excited to welcome Brett to the Wilmington athletics family,” said Terry Rupert, Wilmington College’s vice-president for athletics administration/director of athletics. “Her knowledge of and enthusiasm for the game will be integral assets in building the foundation for our women’s lacrosse program.”
A graduate of Sycamore High School, Yenger has a track record of success. She was in goal when Sycamore captured its first state championship in 2007 and was a U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American in 2008.
Yenger’s collegiate career started at University of Detroit Mercy, where she led the Titans to an 18-5 record in 2009. After transferring to University at Albany-SUNY, Yenger helped the Great Danes capture the 2011 America East championship and a berth in the NCAA Championship Elite Eight. She graduated with a degree in English.
“I’m very excited and ready to get started as soon as possible,” Yenger said. “I really enjoy playing and I think I am good at putting into play information that I hear, even if it doesn’t pertain to me. We will have a disciplined team. I want a team that wants to come out and work hard every day. Winning is fun, and if you want to win, you have to work hard. I want to have fun. I want to win. I want to be competitive.”
Wilmington’s lacrosse teams will play their home games at the 3,500-seat Williams Stadium.
Wilmington College is an NCAA Division III member of the Ohio Athletic Conference.
