- Assistant Coach, Men's Basketball
Matt Sylvester enters his first season as an assistant men's basketball coach at Wilmington College after serving one season at OAC-rival Capital.
Sylvester has roots deeply embedded in the Ohio basketball scene. He was a member of the Ohio State men's basketball team from 2001-2006. During that span, he helped the Buckeyes win an outright Big Ten Championship and a Big Ten Tournament championship. Ohio State earned two trips to the NCAA tournament in his collegiate career. Sylvester also was a standout performer at Cincinnati Moeller, where he was a two-time Greater Catholic League Player of the Year and finished his prep career with the Ohio High School Coaches Player of the Year award. The GCL is one of Ohio’s most competitive high school conferences.
Following his time with the Buckeyes, he played professionally in Europe and worked two years in the financial services industry. He lives in Columbus with his wife, Sarah.
