2014 - 2015 Scholarship & Awards Program for Freshman

The following scholarships and awards are available to first-time freshmen students entering in the 2014 fall semester and 2015 spring semesters at Wilmington College. Recipients must be full-time students on the main campus. Scholarships and awards are renewable each year providing the student maintains eligibility requirements specific to the award.  We also have many scholarships and awards for transfer students.

There is not a separate application process for these awards unless otherwise noted. All students are considered for these awards once they have been accepted to the College.

Wilmington College Academic Awards

WC Scholars Program

  • $20,000 to the full cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room & board) per year.
  • Competition by invitation only. Competition date: January 18, 2014.
  • Applicants must be accepted to the College no later than December 1, 2013.
  • Minimum qualifications: 3.5 cumulative grade point average and a 27 ACT composite (1410 SAT critical reading and math combined score).
  • Scholarships will not be combined with other awards.
  • Recipients must reside on campus.
  • Participation in the Honors Program is required for these awards.

Academic Achievement Scholarship

  • $9,800 - $15,500 per year.
  • Minimum qualifications: 3.0 cumulative grade point average and a 21 ACT composite (980 SAT critical reading and math combined score).
  • Based on cumulative high school grade point average and ACT/SAT composite score.
  • Available regardless of need.
  • Awarded upon acceptance to the College.
  • May be combined with other awards.

Recognition Award

  • $7,000 - $12,600 per year.
  • Minimum qualifications: 2.5 cumulative grade point average and a 17 ACT composite (810 SAT critical reading and math combined score).
  • Based on cumulative high school grade point average and ACT/SAT composite score.
  • Available regardless of need.
  • Awarded upon acceptance to the College.
  • May be combined with other awards.

Wilmington College Heritage Awards

Quaker Award

  • $5,000 per year.
  • Scholarship application deadline: February 15, 2014. Scholarship application may be obtained from the Office of Admission.
  • Student must be an active member of a Monthly Meeting or a graduate from a Quaker high school.
  • Recommendation from the Clerk or Pastor is required to apply for this award.
  • Recommendation letter should be submitted to the Office of Admission no later than March 1, 2014.
  • May be combined with other awards.

Quaker Leader Scholarship

  • $20,000 per year
  • Applicants must be accepted for admission to Wilmington College by February 1, 2014.
  • Applicants must be active in a Friends Meeting or Church and have their pastor or Monthly Meeting clerk send a letter of recommendation on their behalf no later than March 1, 2014.
  • Application deadline: February 15, 2014. Scholarship application may be obtained from the Office of Admission.
  • Students must participate in an on-campus interview process no later than March 1, 2014.
  • Students must submit an essay on "What is the Friends testimony you find most challenging and why?" Essays must be submitted to the Office of Admission at least one week prior to the on-campus interview.
  • Scholarship will not be combined with other awards.

Legacy Award

  • $5,000 per year.
  • Student's parent, step-parent, sibling or grandparent must be a graduate of WC ~ or ~ sibling, parent, step-parent or spouse must be attending Wilmington College full-time during the 2014-2015 academic year.
  • Information regarding the Legacy relationship must be included on the Application for Admission.
  • Available regardless of need.
  • May be combined with other awards.

Wilmington College Awards of Circumstance

Multi-Cultural Award

  • $5,000 per year.
  • Available to students of traditional under-represented populations. Qualifying ethnicity must be included on the Application for Admission.
  • Available regardless of need.
  • May be combined with other awards.

Pathways Grant

  • $2,500 per year.
  • Student must be accepted to the College and have visited campus via an individual visit or a recruiting event by March 1, 2014.
  • May be combined with other awards.

Gateway Grant

  • $4,000 per year.
  • Available to any US Citizen whose legal residence is not Ohio.
  • May be combined with other awards.

Agriculture Department Scholarships

Scholarship Details

  • $5000 and $2500 per year.
  • Majors included: Agriculture (all concentrations) and Agriculture Education.
  • Renewable each year so long as recipient is in good academic standing, full-time on the main campus.
  • May be combined with other awards except the WC Scholars and Quaker Leader Scholarships.
  • Competition by invitation only. Competition date: February 1, 2014.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be accepted to the College no later than January 1, 2014.
  • Application deadline: January 15, 2014. Applications can be obtained from the Office of Admission.

Art Department Scholarship

Scholarship Details

  • $2500 per year.
  • Majors included: Studio Art and Art Education.
  • Multiple scholarships will be awarded from the competition.
  • Renewable each year as long as recipient is in good academic standing, full-time on the main campus.
  • May be combined with other awards.
  • Competition by invitation only. Competition date: February 1, 2014.

  • Applicants must be accepted to the College no later than January 1, 2014.

  • Majors included: Business Administration and Accounting.
  • Renewable each year so long as recipient is in good academic standing, full-time on the main campus.

Scholarship Details

  • $2500 per year.
  • Majors included: Education majors pursing a licensure in special education, early childhood, adolescent to young adult, middle childhood, Spanish education.
  • Renewable each year so long as recipient is in good academic standing, full-time on the main campus.
  • May be combined with other awards.
  • Competition by invitation only. Competition date: February 1, 2014.

  • Majors include: Biology, Chemistry, Pre-Med, Pre-Vet, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Chiropractic.
  • Renewable each year as long as recipient is in good academic standing, full-time on the main campus.
  • May be combined with other awards.
  • Competition by invitation only. Competition date: February 1, 2014.

2014 - 2015 Scholarship & Awards Program for Transfers

The following scholarships and awards are available to transfer students entering in the 2014 fall semester and 2015 spring semesters at Wilmington College. Recipients must be full-time students on the main campus. Scholarships and awards are renewable each year providing the student maintains eligibility requirements specific to the award.

Wilmington College Academic Awards for Transfer Students

PTK Scholarship

  • $14,000 per year.
  • Must be a member of PTK (Phi Theta Kappa).
  • Verification of membership is required by notification on College transcript or copy of membership certificate.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable college coursework.
  • Must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative college gpa.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards.
  • Available regardless of need.

Southern State Community College Transfer Scholarship

  • $12,000 per year.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable college coursework from Southern State Community College and transfer directly from Southern State into Wilmington College.
  • Must have a cumulative college gpa of 3.0 or higher.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards.
  • Available regardless of need.

Southern State Community College Award

  • $2,000 per year.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable college coursework from Southern State Community College and transfer directly from Southern State into Wilmington College.
  • Must have a cumulative college gpa of 2.99 and below.
  • May be combined with the Transfer Achievement Award and the Heritage Awards.
  • Available regardless of need.

Transfer Honor Scholarship 1

  • $12,000 per year.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable college coursework.
  • Must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative college gpa.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards.
  • Available regardless of need.

Transfer Honor Scholarship 2

  • $10,000 per year.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable college coursework.
  • Must have a cumulative college gpa between 3.0 and 3.49.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards.
  • Available regardless of need.

Transfer Achievement Grant

  • $8,000 per year.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours of transferable college coursework.
  • Must have a cumulative college gpa between 2.5 and 2.99.
  • May be combined with the Heritage Awards and the $2000 Southern State Community College Award.
  • Available regardless of need.
